Locum Nurse – Onsite Medical Clinics

The role involves clinical preparation, patient management, vaccine administration, documentation, and adherence to infection control and medical governance standards.<h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><h3>1. Clinic Preparation</h3>Prepare the clinic area prior to appointments, ensuring all surfaces and equipment are cleaned and safe for use.Confirm all necessary equipment and medical supplies are available and ready.Manage participant flow, ensuring individuals wait in the designated area until called.<h3>2. Infection Prevention &amp; PPE Compliance</h3>Follow all infection prevention and control guidelines.Wear a facemask if required and change gloves after each participant.Use hand sanitiser between each patient and clean equipment after every use.<h3>3. Vaccination Administration</h3>Greet each participant and confirm their identity.Review allergies, assess suitability for vaccination, and obtain signed consent before vaccination.Explain the vaccination process and potential side effects to the participant.Prepare the vaccine and consumables, cleanse the injection site, and administer the flu vaccine (preferably in the left deltoid unless otherwise requested).Safely dispose of sharps and clinical waste using appropriate receptacles.Provide post-injection care (cotton wool/plaster) if needed.<h3>4. Documentation &amp; GDPR Compliance</h3>Ensure all participant details and consent forms are completed accurately.Attach the vaccine batch sticker to the consent form and sign after administration.Keep all forms secure at all times and return them in the supplies box.Record the batch number, expiry date, and completion of administration accurately.<h3>5. Post-Vaccination Monitoring</h3>Instruct participants to remain nearby for 10 minutes post-vaccination to monitor for any adverse reactions such as fainting.<h3>6. Managing Adverse Events</h3>Recognise and manage anaphylaxis using the adrenaline vials provided.Contact emergency services (999) if symptoms are severe or prolonged.Inform the point of contact or senior person on site immediately.Stop further vaccinations until an adrenaline replacement is sourced.Report any adverse events within 24 hours according to relevant guidelines.<h3>7.
