Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Are you an experienced Speech & Language Therapist ready to take a leadership role? Enable Ireland is seeking a Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join our Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT). This is an exciting opportunity to lead, innovate, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families while working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

Enable Ireland is a non-profit organisation that provides vital therapy and support services to children and adults with disabilities and their families. Through the national Progressing Disabilities Services (PDS) model, their Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) deliver family-centred services that empower children and young people with complex needs to achieve their full potential.

Role Overview

As a Senior Speech & Language Therapist, you will provide expert assessment and intervention to children and young people (0-18 years) and their families while leading clinical and service development within the team. You will supervise and mentor junior staff and students, contribute to research and quality improvement, and work across multiple settings including clinics, homes, schools, and community environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload, delivering high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and intervention.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to staff grade Speech and Language Therapists and students.
  • Lead on service planning, innovation, and quality improvement within the discipline.
  • Collaborate within the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement coordinated, family-centred care plans.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards, including CORU registration and Children First compliance.
  • Represent the profession and Enable Ireland internally and externally.
  • Support and contribute to research, audits, and service evaluation initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND 

  • Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years full time) post qualification clinical experience.

AND

  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

AND

  • Provide proof of statutory registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
  • On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

  • Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of interdisciplinary team working.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children with disabilities.
  • Experience working with children with Eating, Drinking and Swallowing difficulties.
  • Experience working with Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC).
