Practice Nurse Wexford (Permanent Part-Time)

Hours: 20 Hours per Week
Salary: €28 per Hour

About the Role

We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Practice Nurse to join a well-established GP practice in Wexford on a permanent part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care within a primary care setting.

Midwifery experience is highly desirable, and applications are welcomed from Registered General Nurses with a background in women's health, maternity services, community nursing, or general practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Chronic Disease Management Clinics (Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Cardiovascular Disease)
• Cervical screening and women's health services
• Antenatal and postnatal care support
• Family planning and contraception advice
• Childhood, travel and adult vaccination programmes
• Baby immunisation clinics and developmental support
• Health promotion and patient education
• Phlebotomy and specimen collection
• Wound care, dressings and suture removal
• Blood pressure monitoring and cardiovascular risk assessments
• ECGs and other routine clinical assessments
• Administration of injections and medications
• Ear irrigation (desirable)
• Infection prevention and control
• Maintenance of accurate patient records and documentation
• Participation in health screening and preventative care initiatives
• Collaboration with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care

Essential Requirements

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active NMBI registration
• Minimum 2 years' post-registration nursing experience
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
• Experience in vaccination administration and phlebotomy
• Ability to work independently and efficiently within a busy practice environment
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
• Competency in electronic patient record systems
• Previous GP Practice Nursing experience
• Registered Midwife (RM) qualification or significant midwifery experience
• Women's health or maternal health experience
• Cervical smear competency
• Chronic disease management experience
• Immunisation certification
• Community nursing experienc
• Family planning and contraception experience
