- Participate in Minor Injury / Local Injury on‑call and cross‑cover arrangements as required by the department.
- Uphold quality‑improvement, audit, and risk‑management activities within the MIU/LIU environment.
- Contribute to training and education of junior doctors, ANPs, and allied health professionals in minor‑injury and urgent‑care practice.
- Ensure accurate documentation, safe discharges, and appropriate follow‑up referrals (orthopaedics, physiotherapy, community, etc.).
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, aseptic technique, and patient‑safety standards.
Requirements
- Medical degree recognised by the Irish Medical Council.
- Full Specialist Registration in Emergency Medicine, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, or General Practice (with extensive MIU/urgent‑care experience).

- Proven experience in managing fractures, soft‑tissue injuries, wound management, and basic emergency presentations.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland (e.g., Irish/UK/EU passport or Stamp 4).
- Strong leadership, communication, teaching, and multidisciplinary‑team skills.
- Commitment to safe, high‑throughput, patient‑centred urgent care.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced clinical judgment and ability to triage and manage a wide range of minor‑injury presentations.

- Excellent communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Professionalism, resilience, and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment.

- Consultant‑level rota aligned with urgent‑care hours (often 8 am–8 pm, seven days per week) and may include on‑call or cross‑cover commitments.
- Local/Minor Injury Unit or urgent‑care‑centred pathway within an Emergency Department or standalone MIU, handling a high volume of minor injuries.
- Multidisciplinary team including nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, physiotherapy, and radiography.

- Flexible, time‑limited contracts with potential for extension or rotation across sites.
- Opportunity to work in leading urgent‑care and emergency‑medicine services in Ireland.
