The Department of Health provides leadership and policy direction for the health sector in order to improve health outcomes and, through effective performance oversight, ensure accountable and high quality, safe health service delivery.

The Department currently has a vacancy for the Head of Patient Safety Surveillance and Performance (Principal Officer level) in its National Patient Safety Office (NPSO). This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual who is looking to embrace new challenges, do purposeful work and make a real difference to the Irish State and its people.

Reporting to the Director of the National Patient Safety Office, the Head of Patient Safety Surveillance and Performance will work effectively with other Principal Officers and staff across the NPSO, the Department and the wider health services in maximising the NPSO’s effectiveness in delivering on its patient safety objectives and work programmes.

They will also lead the Department in supporting the HSE’s purpose to provide public health and social care services to everyone living in the country by promoting health, preventing illness, and delivering high-quality care safely across all stages of life.

Salary range

  • €108,152 - €133,775 per year
