
CVAD Nurse – Daycare Oncology Services
About
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate nurse to join our Daycare Oncology team in a leading acute private hospital in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated nurse with expertise in Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) care to work in a patient-centred oncology/haematology environment delivering high-quality specialist care.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide expert nursing care and management of Central Venous Access Devices for oncology and haematology patients attending the daycare service. The role involves assessment, maintenance, troubleshooting, patient education, and support while ensuring best practice standards in infection prevention and vascular access care.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialist nursing care for patients with CVADs including PICC lines, ports, and other vascular access devices
• Perform CVAD dressing changes, flushing, blood sampling, and line maintenance in accordance with hospital policies and evidence-based guidelines
• Assess and monitor patients for complications related to vascular access devices and escalate concerns appropriately
• Deliver patient and family education regarding CVAD care and management
• Collaborate closely with oncology consultants, haematology teams, chemotherapy nurses, CNS’s/ANP team and multidisciplinary colleagues
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards at all times
• Support a safe, professional, and compassionate outpatient experience for all patients
Essential Requirements
• Registered General Nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable Criteria
• Experience in oncology, haematology, chemotherapy, or vascular access nursing
• Demonstrated competency in CVAD care and management
• Experience in an ambulatory care setting
• IV cannulation and venepuncture competency
