Key Responsibilities

As Assistant Director of Nursing, you will:

• Provide clinical and operational leadership to nursing teams
• Support the Director of Nursing in the overall management of services
• Promote excellence in patient-centred mental health care
• Ensure compliance with HIQA standards, legislation, and best practice guidelines
• Lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff
• Participate in service planning, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
• Support workforce planning, rostering, and resource management
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and compassion

Requirements

To be considered for this Mental Health ADON position, candidates must have:

• Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• A recognised qualification in Mental Health Nursing
• Minimum 7 years post-registration adult mental health nursing experience
• At least 5 years’ experience in a management or leadership role
• Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and HIQA standards
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage change effectively
• A relevant management qualification is desirable
