About the Service

This specialist neuro-rehabilitation service provides inpatient rehabilitation for adults with acquired and progressive neurological conditions, including brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, and other complex neurological disorders. Working as part of a regional neuro-rehabilitation network, the service delivers intensive, person-centered rehabilitation through a multidisciplinary team approach, supporting patients in maximizing independence and achieving the best possible outcomes.

The service is currently expanding its specialist inpatient rehabilitation capacity and plays a key role in providing Level 2 regional neuro-rehabilitation care, working closely with acute hospitals, community neuro-rehabilitation teams, and national specialist rehabilitation services.

Purpose of the Role

The Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine will lead the delivery and development of specialist neuro-rehabilitation services, providing clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will support the ongoing expansion of the service, contribute to the development of rehabilitation pathways across the regional network, and help ensure patients receive timely access to high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation care.

Requirements

• Specialist registration (or eligibility for specialist registration) in Rehabilitation Medicine.
• Experience in neuro-rehabilitation and managing patients with complex neurological conditions.
• Strong leadership, service development, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Commitment to patient-centered care, education, quality improvement, and clinical governance.

What We Offer:

• The current Consultant salary ranges from €238,221 to €286,151 for a 37-hour week. The package also includes €12,000 annual CPD funding, €8,000 innovation funding, generous annual and study leave, and a public pension scheme.
• Working schedule is Monday to Friday, no evenings, no weekends, no on-call!
