We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Consultant Medical Oncologist with a special interest in Gastrointestinal (GI) Malignancies to join a progressive multidisciplinary cancer care team delivering high-quality oncology services.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, oesophageal, gastric, pancreatic, hepatobiliary, and other GI malignancies.
  • Deliver systemic anti-cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and participation in precision oncology initiatives.
  • Manage oncology patients across inpatient, outpatient, and day-ward settings.
  • Work closely with surgeons, gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, specialist nurses, and palliative care teams within multidisciplinary cancer meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of regional cancer services and care pathways.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
  • Support clinical research activities and encourage patient participation in clinical trials where appropriate.
  • Provide teaching, training, and supervision to junior doctors, medical students, and multidisciplinary team members.


Requirements

  • Specialist registration (or eligibility for specialist registration) in Medical Oncology.
  • Experience managing a broad range of solid tumour malignancies, with a particular interest in Gastrointestinal Oncology.
  • Strong multidisciplinary working and communication skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centred cancer care, research, education, and service development.
  • Experience in systemic anti-cancer therapies and modern oncology treatment approaches.


What We Offer

  • The current Consultant salary scale ranges from €238,221 to €286,151 for a 37-hour week, with any additional work paid separately.
