Job Title: Assistant Psychologist - Child Primary Care
Location: Tullamore
Contract Type: Agency Rolling Contract, Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week)
Salary: HSE Aligned Assistant Psychologist Pay Scale

Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with a HSE Primary Care Psychology service in Tullamore to recruit an Assistant Psychologist, on a full‑time, agency rolling contract. This is an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful clinical experience while contributing to early intervention and prevention services for children and their families within the community.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of early intervention and prevention services for children and their families within the Primary Care Psychology service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting psychologists in assessment, intervention, and review of children referred to the primary care service.
  • Assisting in the delivery of evidence-based group and individual interventions for children with mild to moderate needs.
  • Contributing to parent training and psychoeducation programmes.
  • Supporting triage and referral processes to ensure timely service response.
  • Assisting in service evaluation, audit, and administrative duties as required.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team, including Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy colleagues.
  • Participating in team meetings, supervision, and continuous professional development.
  • Regular supervision and induction training will be provided to ensure continued learning and professional growth.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A minimum 2.1 Honours Degree in Psychology (essential for postgraduate training routes).
  • Eligible for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) working with children and families services is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A passion for child development, early intervention, and community-based care.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A full driver's licence and access to transport is advantageous but not essential.
