Staff Nurse (Intellectual Disability Services)

Location: Limerick

Salary: Dependant on Experience (€35,261 to 51,777)

Contract: 30 to 35 hours per week, Permanent Contracts and Fixed Term Contracts Available

The Role

As a Staff Nurse, you will play a key role in the delivery and coordination of nursing care for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Working closely with service management and multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure the highest standards of clinical care, safety, and service quality are maintained.

You will be a compassionate and proactive nurse who is committed to delivering exceptional care and supporting people to live fulfilling, independent lives. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care tailored to individual needs.
  • Develop, implement, and review care plans that promote choice, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to care staff and support teams.
  • Support the delivery of safe and effective respite and residential services.
  • Ensure compliance with HIQA regulations, organisational policies, and professional nursing standards.
  • Administer and manage medications in line with best practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, assessments, and care documentation.
  • Participate in risk management, safeguarding, quality assurance, and clinical governance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with families, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for service users.

Requirements

  • Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • RNID qualification or a minimum of one year's experience working within intellectual disability services.
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred care and disability services.
  • Knowledge of HIQA standards and quality requirements within care services.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
