Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Staff Grade Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy Department at Tullamore Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a busy acute hospital team, supporting patients across a varied inpatient caseload. Previous acute hospital experience is essential for this role.
About the Role:
The post is based in Tullamore Hospital and will involve working with patients in a busy acute hospital setting. As a Staff Grade Physiotherapist, you will assess patients' mobility, strength, function, and rehabilitation needs; provide treatment plans to support recovery; work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues; and contribute to safe, timely discharge planning.
This role is ideal for a motivated Physiotherapist who has previous acute hospital experience and is confident working in a dynamic clinical environment where priorities can change quickly and patient-centred decision-making is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and treat patients within a busy acute hospital setting, including inpatient wards and patients requiring rehabilitation, mobility support, and discharge planning.
- Complete clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to improve mobility, function, strength, balance, and
- Work closely with consultants, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and other allied health professionals as part of the wider multidisciplinary hospital team.
- Support safe and timely discharge planning by identifying patients' rehabilitation needs, recommending appropriate supports, and liaising with community or outpatient services where required.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes, treatment records, and discharge documentation in line with CORU, hospital, and HSE standards.
- Manage a varied acute caseload, prioritising patients appropriately in a busy hospital environment while maintaining high standards of care.
- Participate in team meetings, service development, audit, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development within the hospital physiotherapy service.
Essential Criteria
- BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy.
- CORU registration (essential).
- Previous acute hospital experience is essential for this role.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous professional development.
- Previous orthopaedic or MSK experience.
- Experience managing patients with fractures or post-acute MSK injuries.
