Social Worker

An experienced Social Worker is required to join the Tusla West Cork Social Work Department on a part-time, agency basis. This is a 6-month assignment (with possible extension), offering a rewarding opportunity to work with children, young people, and families in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver a professional social work service to children and families referred to Tusla
• Conduct child protection and welfare assessments in line with Children First and Tusla procedures
• Develop and review care plans, family support plans, and child protection plans
• Work in partnership with families, carers, and professionals to support positive outcomes
• Support children in care, including coordinating family access where appropriate
• Maintain accurate and timely records and prepare professional reports for court and conferences
• Contribute to case conferences, multidisciplinary meetings, and interagency reviews
• Liaise with community services and external agencies to ensure coordinated care
• Comply with Tusla policies, HIQA standards, and all relevant legislation
• Engage in regular supervision, ongoing training, and professional development

Requirements:

• Professional social work qualification recognised by CORU
• CORU registration (or confirmation of application in progress)
• Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in a relevant setting
• Strong knowledge of child protection, alternative care, and family support frameworks
• Full driving licence and access to own transport
• Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills

Desirable

• Experience in statutory child protection or children in care services
• Familiarity with Tusla systems, HIQA standards, and inter-agency collaboration
