Social Care Worker Under 18's Residential Service

Salary €39,227.56 to €42,615.80

Role Summary

We are recruiting Social Care Workers / Social Care Support Workers to support children and young people under 18 in a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment. The role involves building positive relationships, supporting daily living and education, promoting wellbeing, and contributing to care planning in line with best practice and relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day care and support to young people in line with their individual care plans.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, structured environment that supports development and wellbeing.
  • Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to build trust and support regulation.
  • Support routines including meals, hygiene, school attendance, appointments, recreation, and community activities.
  • Record and report accurately: daily logs, incident reports, shift handovers, and keywork notes.
  • Assist with behaviour support plans, positive risk management, and de-escalation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with families (where appropriate), social workers, educators, clinicians, and external agencies.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, audits, and service development.
  • Maintain confidentiality and operate within safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration
  • OR hold a relevant third level qualification at degree level i.e. social care, psychology, sociology.
  • Experience of working in a children's residential centre or with children with complex needs in other settings.
  • A working knowledge of the impact of childhood adversity on adolescents.
  • A working knowledge and awareness of HIQA National Standards for Children's Residential Centres.
  • Ability to manage and support teenagers in crisis who present with challenging behaviours.
  • A high standard of written communication.
  • A working knowledge and understanding of Child Protection, and responses to concerns.
  • A working knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model.
  • Full drivers license
