Excel Recruitment is delighted to recruit a Senior Occupational Therapist for a well established, 47-bed HSE nursing unit based on South Circular Road, Dublin.
This is a part-time agency position working 2 days per week between Mon-Friday. It is a long-term agency role. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality occupational therapy assessment and intervention to service users, supporting independence, safe transitions and positive clinical outcomes.
The successful candidate: You will have experience working with older people and a strong understanding of their clinical, functional and care needs. You will manage an assigned caseload and deliver evidence-based occupational therapy services in line with HSE policies, professional standards and local service requirements.
Role:
- Responsible for managing own caseload and for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment/ intervention programmes for service users according to service standards
- Assessments to include but are not limited to seating assessments, complete functional assessments, complete hand assessments, cognitive assessments and recommendations on environmental layout.
- Collaborate with service users, family, carers and other staff in treatment/intervention planning and in the provision of support and advice.
- Plan discharge or transition of the service user between services as appropriate.
- Ensure the quality of documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries are in accordance with professional standards.
- Foster and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, front-line managers, and other healthcare personnel in the team.
- Be involved in service planning and development by anticipating the changing needs of the service and service users for the inpatient service.
- Demonstrate a commitment to research and evidence-based practice, identifying and contributing to research, clinical evaluation and audit opportunities.
- Document, and communicate verbally and / or in writing results of assessments, treatment/intervention programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy.
- Arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service users' needs and in line with local policy/guidelines. Attend review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc.
- Maintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audits as appropriate.
- Be responsible for adhering to existing standards and protocols and for leading out on the development and maintenance of standards/strategies for quality improvement and outcome measurement.
Eligibility criteria:
- CORU-registered Occupational Therapist.
- A minimum of two years' post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and MDT collaboration skills.
- Full, clean Irish driving licence and access to a car
- Previous experience in a nursing home, residential, or step-down setting is a distinct advantage.
