Job Title: Senior Psychologist -Adult ADHD Service
Base: Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan
Contract Type: 1 year Maternity Leave Cover
Salary: Aligned with HSE Senior Psychologist Pay Scales
Start Date: Immediate - this post needs to be filled urgently

Excel Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the North East Adult ADHD Service.

This maternity leave post must be filled as soon as possible.

This adult only specialist service based in Carrickmacross, where all clinics are delivered. The service supports adults across four counties: Cavan, Monaghan, Meath and Louth.

Successful candidate:

You will join a multidisciplinary team comprising a Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Occupational Therapist and administrative support. The full team is based in Carrickmacross and meets weekly, creating a highly collaborative environment for assessment, diagnosis and intervention planning.

The Role:

As the Senior Psychologist, you will play a central role in supporting the service's assessment and diagnostic pathways for adults with ADHD. You will also identify and deliver appropriate evidence-based interventions, both individually and in groups.

You will contribute psychological expertise to MDT decision-making, collaborate closely with colleagues and help ensure clients move through assessment, diagnosis and intervention pathways effectively. Clinical supervision is provided by the Principal Psychologist, and the successful candidate will be a member of the wider psychology department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake specialist psychological assessments and contribute to diagnostic pathways for adults referred to the service.
  • Develop psychological formulations and recommend appropriate evidence-based interventions.
  • Provide individual and group-based psychological interventions.
  • Participate in weekly MDT meetings and contribute specialist psychological insight to care planning.
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision and contribute to the wider psychology department.

Experience in neuropsychology would be an advantage, but it is not essential. The strongest fit will be a confident clinician who can work both independently and collaboratively in a specialist adult service.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
  • Eligibility for professional registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the relevant professional body.
  • A minimum of five years' post-qualification experience, including at least two years at Senior Psychologist level or equivalent.
  • Experience in delivering psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions across a range of clinical mental health presentations and care settings.
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and liaise with other professionals.
  • Neuropsychology experience is desirable but not essential.

What to expect:

  • Competitive HSE salary aligned with experience.
  • A pivotal clinical role within a specialist adult ADHD service.
  • Weekly collaboration with a fully co-located multidisciplinary team.
  • Clinical supervision from the Principal Psychologist.
  • Membership of and professional connection with the wider psychology department.

This position is available immediately, and applications will be reviewed without delay.
