Retail Operations & People Manager

Excel Healthcare is currently recruiting a Retail Operations & People Manager on behalf of an established Irish community pharmacy group for a permanent position based primarily in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pharmacy manager to take ownership of retail performance, people management and day-to-day operations across multiple pharmacy locations.

Working Pattern: Full-time, with a 4-day week option available for a suitably experienced Pharmacist

Location: Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, with regular travel across other pharmacy locations

Salary: €50,000-€60,000 depending on experience, plus performance-related bonus and company electric vehicle

Responsibilities:

• Drive retail sales, gross margin and profitability across multiple pharmacy locations
• Take ownership of overall retail performance and work towards agreed commercial targets
• Oversee merchandising, stock management, purchasing, promotions and retail standards
• Identify opportunities to increase sales, improve margins and strengthen commercial performance
• Maintain consistently high standards of customer service and retail presentation
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, rotas, staffing requirements, absence and performance management
• Support pharmacy managers and retail supervisors in leading and developing their teams
• Work closely with the Superintendent Pharmacist and Supervising Pharmacists while respecting professional and clinical responsibilities
• Take ownership of operational challenges and resolve issues effectively
• Contribute ideas to support marketing, digital presence and online retail development
• Work hands-on across the pharmacy locations, supporting teams and identifying areas for improvement

Requirements:

• Ideally a minimum of 3 years' management experience within community pharmacy in Ireland or Northern Ireland
• Applications welcomed from experienced Pharmacy Store Managers, Area Managers, Operations Managers and Pharmacy Technicians who have progressed into management
• Applications will also be considered from commercially minded Pharmacists looking to move into a management-focused position
• Proven track record of driving retail sales and improving gross margins
• Strong commercial awareness with experience in stock management, merchandising and purchasing
• Strong people management experience, including recruitment, staffing, team development and performance management
• Confident leadership and communication skills
• Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership and deliver results
• Experience across multiple pharmacy locations is desirable
• Interest or experience in e-commerce, digital marketing or online retail would be an advantage
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel between pharmacy locations
