Job Title: Radiographer with Ultrasound Experience
Location: Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Job Type: Long-term contract, Full-time, 35 hours per week

Salary: Excellent pay rates available, dependent on experience.

Excel Recruitment is delighted to offer an excellent long-term contract opportunity for a CORU-registered Radiographer with Ultrasound experience to join a busy, forward-thinking Radiology team in Mullingar.

This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated Radiographer who is confident in Ultrasound and seeking the stability of a long-term contract with excellent pay rates.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a friendly and supportive Radiology department, providing high-quality imaging services while enjoying the continuity and security of a long-term placement.

Overview of role:

The Diagnostic Imaging Department provides a service to both inpatients and outpatients, including General and Emergency Radiography, CT, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound services. This role is particularly suited to a Radiographer with previous Ultrasound experience who is comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary imaging team.

The post holder will work as a member of the Radiography Department, delivering a high-quality radiography and ultrasound service to patients in assigned areas in accordance with professional standards of practice.

The Successful Candidate:

The successful candidate will work under the leadership of an exceptional Radiology Manager dedicated to innovation, excellence, and supportive working. This position would suit a Radiographer with strong general radiography experience and proven Ultrasound experience, who is keen to contribute to a high-performing service and continue developing professionally within a long-term contract role.

General Responsibilities:

  • Participate daily in the general radiography and ultrasound service in the assigned area, proactively engaging in training, upskilling, and professional development
  • Contribute to out-of-hours service as required.
  • Maintain high standards in patient care and radiographic techniques, ensuring adherence to radiation protection principles (justification, optimisation, ALARA, and dose limits), and follow "local rules."
  • Comply with statutory directives and keep clinical and technical knowledge up to date, seeking advice and training where necessary.
  • Ensure a clean, safe working environment in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Report any equipment faults to the designated supervisor and log them appropriately.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge in key areas, including clinical risk reporting, occupational health, patient handling, resuscitation, health and safety, financial controls, and patient complaints.
  • Efficiently use the Radiology Information System (RIS), PACS, and other relevant systems in daily tasks.
  • Develop IT skills to analyse and present data for departmental meetings as required.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must hold a Diploma/Degree of Radiography.
  • Must hold CORU registration
  • Previous Ultrasound experience is required.
  • General radiography experience is essential; CT experience would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of RIS systems is desirable.
  • Flexibility to work in the General Department and adapt to changes in healthcare environments.
  • Strong awareness of Radiation Safety and Health & Safety regulations.
