Person in Charge (PIC) - Children's Disability Residential Services

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Person in Charge (PIC) to lead Children's Residential Services supporting young people with disabilities, complex needs, or those in mainstream care.
This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of HIQA standards, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and high-quality governance.
The PIC will ensure the day-to-day management of the centre, provide leadership to the staff team, and promote a safe, supportive, and child-centred environment in line with national standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership, direction, and governance within the designated centre.
- Maintain up-to-date centre policies, protocols, and risk management systems.
- Oversee notifications, audits, inspections, and direct communication with regulatory bodies.
- Ensure robust quality assurance systems are in place and continuously improved.
- Promote a positive workplace culture built on respect, accountability, and reflective practice.
- Ensure all young people receive high-quality, therapeutic, and trauma-informed care.
- Support individualised care plans, behaviour support plans, and placement plans.
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations within a designated centre.
- Ensure compliance with HIQA, Health Act 2007, and related legislation.
- Support and mentor your team through supervision, training, and reflection.
- Promote inclusion, dignity, and personal choice for all service users.
- Engage with families, professionals, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage resources effectively, balancing quality and accountability.
- Manage budgets, resources, and centre facilities effectively.
- Maintain accurate records including governance reports, risk registers, staffing files, and incident logs.
- Ensure proper handover procedures, communication systems, and operational continuity.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Level 8 qualification in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Social Work, Psychology, or equivalent recognised by CORU,
- or Level 7 plus Management qualification (min. 30 ECTS, Level 6 or higher) in line with HIQA Regulation 14(7).
- Minimum 3 years' management or supervisory experience in a health or social care setting.
- Strong understanding of HIQA, Children First Act 2015, Disability Act 2005, and GDPR.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Management, Leadership, or a related field.
- Experience in children's disability, autism services, trauma-informed care, or high support settings.
- Training in MAPA/Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Positive Behaviour Support, or similar.

Salary range
- €57,000 - €60,000 per year
