Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Medical, Oncology & Cardiology Ward

Orange Recruitment are recruiting for a CNM 2 for a leading Private Hospital based in South -West Dublin.

Purpose of Job: The role is responsible for the delivery of a high-quality service in line with the standards of an acute medical, oncology, and cardiology ward. As a key member of both the Nursing and senior management. The Hospital provides a full range of medical and surgical care across a broad spectrum of specialities. The ward provides care to a range of specialties including oncology/haematology, respiratory, cardiology and this role is important in making a significant contribution, developing and maintaining best practice in medical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the ward/service, taking responsibility for the safe delivery, coordination and continuous improvement of nursing services, ensuring effective, efficient and high-quality specialist care.
  • Plan, develop and monitor service delivery, including human and budget resources, to ensure safe and effective use of resources.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of specialist nursing services, innovation and service improvements.
  • Ensure nursing care is evidence-based, informed by current research and consistent with best practice.
  • Coordinate patient flow and escalate issues impacting patient management, bed utilisation or delays in care to relevant medical and nursing leadership.
  • Ensure clinical and non-clinical support services are effective, timely and economically utilised.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate clinical, operational and administrative records.
  • Monitor stock, equipment and resource usage, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Work collaboratively with IT and clinical teams to support development and optimisation of electronic systems for patient management.
  • Undertake service reviews and contribute to annual reporting, service planning and achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Ensure staff are familiar with critical incident and emergency response procedures and that the clinical area is prepared to respond effectively.
  • Foster effective communication with patients, families, visitors and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring dignity, confidentiality and patient-centred care are maintained.
  • Build effective relationships with Consultants, Nursing Management, Clinical Nurse Specialists, NCHDs and multidisciplinary colleagues to support safe and efficient service delivery.
  • Provide strong clinical and operational leadership, including supervision, coordination and deployment of nursing and support staff.
  • Ensure effective workforce planning, skill mix and rostering to meet service needs and fluctuations in workload.
  • Promote a professional culture of accountability, responsibility and high standards of practice.
  • Support recruitment, retention, induction and orientation of nursing and support staff.
  • Support professional and personal development opportunities for nursing and support staff through training needs assessment and education planning.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements and support specialty development and continuing professional development.

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI
  • Have at least five years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting and a minimum of two years nursing experience in nursing management
  • Have a recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or Post Grad course, in a relevant nursing discipline or be in pursuit of same.
  • Ideally have a Health Care Management qualification preferably at third level
