Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) Dublin South

Purpose of the Role
The CNM1 is responsible for supporting the CNM2 in the effective delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within the medical ward. The role involves clinical leadership, staff supervision, and coordination of daily ward activities to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation, and review of care.
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland and Professional Clinical Guidelines
- In the absence of the CNM 2, manage the daily functions of the department taking responsibility for the safe delivery and co-ordination of nursing services for patients
- Develop close links with other healthcare facilities relevant to the delivery and enhancement of services.
- Monitor complaints and investigate any nursing and clinical complaints, taking corrective and preventative action as appropriate and review audit to ensure there are no re-occurrences.
- Maintain nursing records in accordance with local service and professional standards.
- Facilitate effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and multi-disciplinary team as necessary ensuring patient confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times.
- Communicate and develop effective relationships with Consultant colleagues, Clinical Nurse Managers and other relevant hospital staff to ensure safe, efficient management of the department.
- Ensure that systems for the provision of clinical and non-clinical services are satisfactory and that they are timely and economically utilised.
- In conjunction with CNM 2 undertake an annual review of nursing services including the preparation of an annual report.
- Ensure that all staff within the ward are familiar with the plan for management of critical incidents and that the ward is ready to meet such a demand.
Essential
- Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI
- Have at least five years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting and a minimum of two years nursing experience in surgical nursing
- Have a recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or Post Grad course, in Postgraduate qualification in a relevant nursing specialty or management and/or a willingness to undertake same.
- Hold an up to date ACLS course or a willingness to undertake same.
