Addiction Counsellor – Homeless Service – Co. Donegal

CPL Healthcare is delighted to announce our partnership with a leading non-profit organisation in the Northwest that works with clients who have experienced long-term homelessness, chronic trauma and other related issues including mental health and addiction.

As an Addiction Counsellor, provide addiction support to service users, while working as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team delivering a high-quality wrap around supports to those who have been long- term homeless and who have a history of complex trauma and rough sleeping.

As an Addiction Counsellor, you will use your skill set to build rapport, give counsel, advocate and liaise on behalf of clients both within the clients' homes and the wider community. The service is recovery lead, using harm reduction approaches to meet people at their own pace.

This role will be based in Letterkenny, Co Donegal and will cover Co. Donegal.

Interested candidates are required to:

•Possess a professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy at a minimum of Level 7 on the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland’s framework

And

•Are accredited as a counsellor with Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, the Irish Association of Alcohol and Addiction Counsellors, or a relevant body within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy

And

•Have a minimum of 2 years full time experience of working in a counselling setting where addiction issues were part of this work, using harm reduction modalities.

•An excellent understanding of issues relating to problem drug use, homelessness, dual-diagnosis and progression pathways towards community-based rehab, housing, and training services.

•Ability to develop constructive relationships with clients & team.

•Ability to work on own initiative and as part of the team

•Ability to develop positive relationships with internal and external agencies.

•Experience and skills in developing Care Plans.

•Hold a full clean driver’s licence and access to a car
