Capuchin Franciscan Province of Ireland

The Irish Capuchin Franciscans are a community of friars inspired by the teachings and example of St. Francis of Assisi, whose values of brotherhood, prayer, simplicity, peace and service remain central to their way of life. Present in Ireland since the early 1600s, they have supported the Irish people through periods of persecution, famine and poverty while advocating for religious freedom, cultural expression and the relief of those in need.

Today, the Irish Capuchin Franciscans continue the mission of St. Francis of Assisi by living and working alongside people in need, particularly those who are poor, vulnerable or marginalised. Their ministry extends across parishes, hospitals, schools, universities, prisons and communities in Ireland and abroad, where they seek to offer practical support, spiritual guidance and companionship. Rooted in prayer, brotherhood and simplicity, the friars are committed to promoting peace, justice and human dignity, while sharing the hope and joy of the Gospel through their service to others.
