Recruitment Event/Open Day for Cardiothoracic Theatres - Saturday 2nd March 2019 - 9am till 2pm – ERC, Wythenshawe MFT. Interviews will be held on the day
Our 5 Theatre specialise in Cardiac, Thoracic and Transplant surgery while also being one of the five busiest Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) centres in the UK.
We perform routine, complex and emergency Heart, Lung and Transplant surgery which include:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
- Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
- Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- Heart and Lung Transplants
- Thoracic surgery: Lobectomies (part or whole lung); VATS (v ideo-assisted thoracoscopic surgery)
- Chest wall reconstructions with support from plastics team
A transplantation of both heart and lung is one aspect of cardiothoracic surgery and this is performed at Wythenshawe Hospital – Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, one of the five specialised centres in the UK.
