Job Description

Job Title ; Orthopaedic Clinical Co-ordinator

Grade; CNM 1

Department ; Theatre

Reports to ; CNM2(Orthopaedic Theatre Co-Ordinator)

Overall Purpose of Job

To provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the centre of all we do. The Orthopaedic theatre Coordinator is accountable for the effective delivery of competent, compassionate and efficient care for patients undergoing procedures in the Orthopaedic theatre. This includes clinical, human resources, and financial management. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities of the theatre to which they are assigned.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

Coordinates and directs the daily patient care operations of the Orthopaedic Theatres.

Organizes the equipment required for patient care and ensures implants available

Analyses workloads and skill requirements to meet patient care needs.

Assesses staff competencies and makes patient care assignments.

Delegates appropriate tasks to appropriate personnel, consistent with legal and professional guidelines and departmental standards.

Maintains clear communications with the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs and/or incidents.

Serves as a resource person on the unit.

Assists with patient care as needed.

Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

Performs clinical and related duties as required.

Clinical Responsibilities

The post holder will be familiar with and adhere to The Professional Scope of Practice Framework (An Bord Altranais 2015).

The post holder will partake in the Total Quality Management processes thereby contributing to:

The identification of quality guideline issues.

The evaluation of current practices to ensure they are in line with best practice.

The setting of standards utilising structure, process and outcome.

All hospital, regional and national audit processes.

The Hospital Wide Accreditation Cycle.

Qualification

§ An Bord Altranais Registered General Nurse license in good standing.

Experience

5 years Orthopaedic Clinical Theatre experience

Must possess teaching abilities, leadership qualities, professional judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and a sense of professional development

Must demonstrate multi-tasking ability

Must speak, read and write grammatically correct English

Use effective time management skill

Participate in Clinical Audits
