Department of Ageing and Health currently have nursing opportunitiy for deputy ward sister/ charge nurse to join Anne ward in Older Person's Unit (OPU). This is an exciting opportunity to work within a renowned and innovative multi-disciplinary team at one of the UK's leading teaching Hospitals in the heart of London. All the staff on this ward is committed to transforming care of the older person and pride themselves on delivering high quality, expert care in a safe and nurturing environment.
With a strong emphasis on maintaining independence where possible care is directed to community teams but when this is not an option, OPU provides patient centred acute care and rehabilitation with a multidisciplinary approach.
 
Anne ward in the Unit is a 28-bedded ward providing acute care to frail older people from admission to discharge. Successful candidates will work alongside Ward Sister to deliver ward's vision, embed caring and compassionate care to patients, drive the OPU standard and improve overall patients and family experience. You will be a visible team leader working alongside the management team to provide staff development to ensure excellence is achieved through good communication & multidisciplinary team working. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to confidently manage and provide strong leadership, operationally managing the nursing team and deputising for the ward manager. This could be the post that really shapes your nursing career this year.
 
When joining our team, you will also open the door to career progression and will be able to enrol in our brand new Acute Medicine and Older Persons Academy. This Academy has been established to support the whole nursing team. The aim of the academy is to ensure that you have all the knowledge and skills you need to care for our patients. It will support you through your career, from senior staff nurse, to sister, research nurse, specialist nurse, matron and beyond.
