The department of Renal and Transplant at Guy's Hospital serves patients throughout the South East of England and carries out over 250 transplants a year. We are an MRC Centre for Transplantation and are part of a Biomedical Research Centre with world class laboratory and clinical research facilities. Our vision is for innovation with clinical and research excellence.

Applications are invited a clinical fellow to join one of the most exciting, rapidly expanding transplant units in the UK. Last year we performed 285 transplants, including 30 pancreas' and the UK's largest paediatric transplant programme; all our donors were performed laparoscopically. The pancreas programme is growing, alongside planned expansion of a non-heart beating programme and around 25% of our living donor transplants are antibody incompatible.

In addition to transplant procedures, the surgical team performs general surgical and vascular procedures for transplant and dialysis patients in the region. There are both clinical and basic science research meetings as well a number of multidisciplinary meetings.

The post is suitable for a junior surgeon who wishes to gain specialist experience in transplantation, including adult and paediatric renal transplantation and pancreatic transplantation. You will be expected to assist in providing a renal and pancreatic transplant service and a dialysis access service including both elective and emergency work. You will also undertake a 1 in 10 or higher on-call rota: this on-call element will be non-resident on-call, with banding being confirmed at interview.
Closing date: 25/07/2019, by midnight
