We are looking for one of the following for our client who is a hospital with one of the busiest trauma units in the UK;
- A full time Band 7 Occupational Therapist to lead both the Orthopaedic and Surgical OT Teams;
- Two part time Band 7 Occupational Therapists – one to lead the Orthopaedic team (trauma/electives) and one to lead the Surgical OT (including amputee service).
The Therapy service at this Hospital is expanding with lots of new and exciting service developments. You will clinically manage a case load and assist with the development of the occupational therapy service provided in this area, working alongside 3 static Band 6 OTs, 2 rotational band 5 OTs and assistant staff.
Trauma Orthopaedics working with the MDT to facilitate the rehabilitation and supported discharge of trauma orthopaedic patients. You will be exposed to various and stimulating cases from head injuries, poly-trauma to spinal cord injuries.
Elective Orthopaedics working with a rehabilitation team of OTs, physiotherapists and support workers to manage a caseload of elective orthopaedic patients, including enhanced recovery patients.
Surgical / amputees:
Surgical working across surgical wards in the acute hospital setting to provide assessment and intervention to patients with a variety of presentations. You will also have the opportunity to manage lower limb amputees with support from a very experienced Band 7 Physiotherapist, specialising in amputees. There will also be scope to be part of the development of an OT service at the outpatient amputee clinic.
The rehabilitation team works closely with the orthopaedic surgeons, a dedicated ortho-geriatrician, social workers and discharge co-ordinators to facilitate smooth and timely discharge of patients.
Are you enthusiastic and passionate? Do you have Band 6 experience in working with people recovering post-surgery and looking to take a ste up? Are you confident in your clinical skills, able to offer the appropriate advice and support on complex cases/discharge planning to more junior members of the team? Do you have excellent communication skills, time management skills, a mature and tactful approach to problem solving, and effective interpersonal and leadership skills? These are all pre-requisites in working effectively within this role.
