Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust(AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our already established supportive team. We are looking for someone who possesses self-motivation, flexibility and an enthusiasm for their work. This role involves working with mothers who suffer with mental health difficulties alongside caring for their baby.

As part of your role you would be required to complete OT assessments, support mothers in planning for discharge by completing home visits, support women with self-care, budgeting, shopping and cooking alongside being a parent and managing their own mental health.
The successful candidate would also be required to facilitate a specific OT led group and other activities such as cooking, gardening as part of our activities programme.
New Horizon mother and baby unit is a 4 bedded inpatient unit that provides a specialist service for women suffering from mental illness in the postnatal period; particularly when there are issues relating to attachment and when the mother's mental illness has an impact on her ability to care for her baby .We also admit women in the latter stages of pregnancy.
The team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, nursery nurses and health care assistants. The New Horizon Mother and Baby Centre has strong links with primary infant mental health specialists, health visitors and children and young people's services.
