Senior Clinical Fellow in Thoracic Surgery- Robotic and minimally invasive surgery fellowship
Nodal Point 4- £47,132 p.a excl. LZ
Fixed Term - 6 - 12 months (by agreement)
Start Date - 1st October 2019 Full Time
We are recruiting a senior fellow to train in robotic and conventional minimally invasive surgery. This fellowship programme offers structured training in robotic surgery on a Da Vinci Xi dual console set up, with access to half / whole day lists on alternate weeks. We have established a training pathway in conjunction with Intuitive Surgical and with SCTS / RCSE endorsement. This is fully funded and builds from online learning modules, through dry lab and then wet lab (animal and cadaveric) 1:1 mentored sessions, and leading into a modular clinical programme for lung resections and mediastinal work.
In addition the fellow will attend an all-day conventional minimally invasive list each week, typically with 2-3 VATS lobectomies scheduled, with the expectation that they will gain considerable additional case numbers and expertise in this area also.
The fellow will also participate in the regular registrar on call service, with day time and weekend ward cover, but no overnight on call requirement.
There is also the expectation that the fellow will undertake guided robotic audit and / or research projects during the post. Guidance on this will be offered in advance of starting.
We are looking for a senior thoracic trainee, with some experience and proven aptitude in minimally-invasive thoracic surgery. We can assist with OOPE applications if required.
