Job Description

Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results - for the second year running.
You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.
We think you will enjoy working for us but you don't have to take our word for it - 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy's and St Thomas' as a place to work.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist or equivalent to the Renal Service based at Guy's Hospital. You will work alongside a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to provide assessment, therapeutic interventions, educational consultations and psychological support to patients with kidney disease. Within this role you will have the opportunity to use integrative approaches including CBT, ACT and mindfulness based interventions for people with physical health conditions.
Common reasons for referral to the service include depression, anxiety as well as coping and adjustment. Working in this embedded psychology service you will work as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team delivering care to a large and diverse patient population.
As we are a centre of excellence in kidney disease you will have the opportunity to work with patients at all stages of their journey including dialysis, transplantation and end of life care. You will be given the opportunity to work autonomously as well as closely with others. In addition to direct patient contact, you will contribute to service development initiatives, staff development, consultation and training.
Guy's and St Thomas' has a strong focus on learning and development. The trust has a large group of clinical psychologists working across many specialist areas who regularly meet to share expertise and knowledge. The psychology department includes clinical, counselling, health, educational and neuro psychologists.
You will be provided with regular one on one supervision with other opportunities for peer supervision, including an ACT special interest group. There is well-organised professional support from the Head of Psychology, and we also encourage personal development and research opportunities.
The NHS Foundation Trusts of Guy's and St. Thomas', The South London and Maudsley (including the Institute of Psychiatry) and King's College Hospital, along with King's College London, form the King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. King's Health Partners actively supports research. You will have ready access to this support and will be encouraged to explore your own research interests.
Visits to the department / further enquiries are recommended. Flexible work patterns can be considered. This post is suitable for those shortly completing training.
Closing date: 21st May 2019 at midnight.
Interview date: 11 June 2019
