We have an exciting opportunity within our Older People’s Services (OPS) Pathway. We are looking for a Band 7 OT to help lead our team’s work across the emergency care pathway including our Frailty Unit. We seek a senior OT able to promote the continued provision of a high quality therapy service that is patient centred, ensuring evidence based practice is embedded in its provision.
The successful candidate would be joining an integrated team of OT’s and Physiotherapists in a friendly, dynamic and supportive environment. They will carry a manageable caseload and be given the opportunity to support and develop more junior staff (including Band 6s, Band 5’s & Rehab Support Workers).
They will be working closely with 2 other Band 7 therapists in Acute and Emergency Care and the Band 7 OT on the Care of the Elderly wards to further develop OT across the Older People’s Services Pathway.
They will have current HCPC registration, have broad clinical experience in acute care of the elderly and emergency care settings and will have worked in the NHS at Band 6 or 7 level. They will possess excellent MDT working and advanced communication skills. A passion for the continued improvement in the quality of care given to frail older people is essential and will be given regular opportunities to undertake audits and service evaluations and to support the work of our Frailty Unit.
There is a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement with support for training at Masters level.
Professional OT support and development is provided from the on-site OT Clinical Lead (Band 8a) in conjunction with the OT/PT Clinical Lead. We provide a Trust wide Band 7 and 8 OT peer group forum and regular in-service training that is focussed on service development. This training and support is overseen by our Trust-wide OT professional lead (Band 8b).
The Therapy Department benefits from an integrated approach to Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy management while providing clear OT specific professional leadership.
The service operates a rostered weekend service to ensure 7 day provision with early & late shifts ensuring the service is covered between 8am - 6pm (a usual shift pattern would be either 8am – 4pm or 10am – 6pm).
Whipps Cross University Hospital is a busy District General Hospital in East London, with easy access to central London, the M25 and M11 motorways.
