We have an opportunity for YOU to join a rewarding and enjoyable rotation scheme working for Barts Health; the largest Trust in England - specifically at the Royal London Hospital, and St Bartholomew’s, site, and in a range of settings within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The respiratory teams work closely across all sites to deliver a consistent, high level of service.
Experience can be gained in the following areas: (NB this is for a 12 month FTC, starting in intensive care at SBH, with the possibility of rotating at the end of the year)
- Intensive Care which includes a high percentage of major trauma admitted via the London Helicopter Emergency Medical Service
- Cardiovascular pathways: the Barts Heart Centre, including the busiest heart attack centre in Europe, a growing ECMO & LVAD service, and complex CT surgery from aorto-vasc to robotic surgery
- General Surgery including regional services in upper GI and Hepato-biliary surgery
- Acute specialist respiratory medicine
- Management of patients with pulmonary and cardio vascular conditions including admission avoidance, early-supported discharge and community rehabilitation classes.
- Regional complex / long term ventilation
All therapies have a site-based lead as well as a professional lead and the respiratory teams are led by a clinical lead. All the teams are multi-disciplinary with occupational therapists in each team, and all sites work closely together and with other specialist teams within each department. We are looking for a minimum of 18 months acute care experience working within the NHS. Individuals should have strong clinical skills and the successful candidate will display a strong commitment to patient centred and evidence based care, be innovative, creative and dynamic.

You will be a dynamic, motivated team player and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care that you provide. You will be expected to deliver high quality care within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team. The therapy service has a strong emphasis on audit and evidence based practice. There is an established clinical supervision and CPD programme with opportunities for personal development and involvement with development of juniors and students. We have an excellent in-service training programme and all staff are encouraged and supported to undertake advanced education and external courses.
