We have a rare and exciting opportunity in recruiting 1, temporary (fixed term/secondment) Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to our outstanding team at the Newberry Centre for Young People, West Lane Hospital, Middlesbrough.
We are a fourteen bedded 'Tier 4' in-patient service that provides assessment and treatment for young people between the ages of 13 and 18, experiencing acute or severe mental health problems requiring specialist in-patient care. All team members must be committed to providing the best possible care for the young people and their families/carers.
The in-patient service forms a Tier 4 specialty within the broad range of services provided as a whole within Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.
Our unit was described by Al Ainsley Green, Department of Health's Children's Commissioner as 'a service that should be seen as a centre of excellence.' In 2018 The Newberry Centre was assessed by QNIC and achieved 'accreditation' for the fourth year running, the highest QNIC standard possible. In the CQC visit in January 2015 the team received a green in all areas. We aim to achieve green across all areas in our 2018 CQC inspection - results pending.
The successful candidate will need to have previous inpatient experience working as qualified clinical/applied psychologist ideally working within children and young people's services. The successful candidate will be compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated in improving the lives of young people suffering from mental health problems whilst also minimising the impact of mental ill health. The successful candidate will be working directly with young people and the wider MDT as well as the complex multi-agency systems around young people and their families. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive assessment and formulation, deliver interventions, evidence based therapies and groups including DBT skills group to young people and their families and facilitate a reflective practice group with the wider staff team. Teaching Training and Clinical supervision is an integral part of this role. You will part of a MDT who deliver high quality care and services that aim to continue to develop and improve a skilled compassionate workforce.
