Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Microbiology

Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Spire Hospital Manchester has an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to help develop their personal organisational and development skills as a Biomedical Scientist within Microbiology. You will liaise with the Laboratory Manager and Team Lead, to ensure the provision of the high quality service is maintained to all our customers.
Spire Manchester Hospital is a brand new, £65m state-of-the-art healthcare facility offering patients a wide range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services. The rapidly expanding team in Manchester consists of over 500 colleagues, who thrive in the welcoming atmosphere that is friendly, supportive and progressive.
Duties and responsibilities:
Based at our brand new purpose built Hospital in Didsbury, Manchester - you will rotate through all the disciplines within Microbiology and partake in the day to day running of the department, having varied responsibilities.
All training and competencies will be given to the successful candidate who may lack previous experience in core areas, but candidates must show a keen willingness to learn and develop their personal professional career.
Knowledge of Q-Pulse is desired but not essential, as full training will be given. The BMS will be expected to partake heavily within the Quality Management System and keep their documents and designated assets up to date as well as partake in audits completed in a timely manner.
Our Microbiology team operators on a 7 day service, which our staff will be rostered across.
Who we're looking for:
You will be Degree qualified in Biomedical Sciences or similar relevant subject and be HCPC state registered, a member of the IBMS or equivalent body preferred - you will also have a specialist portfolio. You will have experience working in a busy laboratory, managing daily workload, hitting targets within a suitable time frame whilst maintaining safety and Quality at all times, having worked in a well-structured QMS previously.
The successful candidate will be expected to partake in the on-call service after suitable training and experience has been given, which also includes weekends.
