The Medical Oncology Service is based at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, with outreach services in Newham General Hospital, Whipps Cross Hospital and the Homerton Hospital.

Based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and reporting to the Admin Manager/Senior Medical Secretary Patient Care Co-ordinator (SPCC) you will be working closely with the clinical staff and Cancer Services Management Team. The position of Medical Secretary Patient Care Co-ordinator (PCC) is a key position supporting the effective delivery of high quality clinical services across St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and Barts Health sites.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a high standard of secretarial support to the Medical Oncology Service and you will be participating in process reviews as part of service developments and service performance; The successful candidate will be versed in RTT policies and procedures, have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and have the ability to multitask and prioritise their work load. This post will be playing an important role in the co-ordinating of patients through their clinical pathway by ensuring that the administrative processes and information are efficient, effective and in line with NHS referral to treatment (RTT) standards.
You will be expected to work together with all teams to provide high quality care for patients within the Cancer service; therefore the ability to forge close working relationships with Hospital administration staff, Clinical staff and other colleagues is essential to the post. A working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft programmes is essential as is the experience of electronic patient record / information systems and previous experience in a Secretarial role or administration role with letter typing as a key function.Prior to applying, please read the Job Description & Person Specification and ensure your skills and experience match
