A vacancy has arisen for a full time Band 7 Senior Physiotherapist in the musculoskeletal outpatient service at Whipps Cross Hospital. The post would suit someone already at this grade looking for new challenges or an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist looking for promotion. The successful post holder will be line managed by the MSK OP lead who is based at Whipps Cross University Hospital. The band 7 post holder will have some responsibility for the day to day running of the department, alongside other senior colleagues. The Physiotherapy Service provides treatment for patients referred by consultants and local GP’s. We use the Electronic Referral system for GP referrals.
The Whipps Cross outpatient physiotherapy service is based on three main sites, there are excellent links between all of the sites and the staff meet for shared in service training and service planning. The post holder’s responsibilities will be based at our Whipps Cross site. This site has a full compliment of staff including sessions by an ESP, Band 7, 6, 5’s and support staff. The Band 6 Senior Physiotherapists undertake eight month rotations and the Band 5 Physiotherapists rotate every 6 months. Students regularly undertake placements across the sites.
The majority of patients referred for treatment are seen in a triage assessment and then managed according to the findings e.g. utilising individualised treatment sessions or group work. Training in triage will be offered to the successful applicant. There may also be an opportunity to undertake an M level module in triage with London South Bank University funded by the department.
