University College Hospital, part of UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, has a reputation for innovation, research and providing excellent patient-focused care. UCLH & UCL along with a with a major pharmaceutical company, are participating in a large-scale, world-leading research trial.
In the UK, only 12.9% of those diagnosed with lung cancer are will still be alive five years after diagnosis because 68% of lung cancers are diagnosed at stage III or IV when the disease is advanced, and often incurable. One year survival by stage, ranges from around 71% for stage I disease to around 14% for stage IV. Early detection is therefore key to improving lung cancer survival. The Trial will be screening the ‘at risk’ population across the north, central and east London sector for lung cancer using low dose lung CT.
UCLH will also provide specialist CT scanning services at 3 satellite sites in North and East London using state of the art 128 slice CT scanning.The rotation for the post holder will include:King George Hospital, Goodmayes (part of BHRUT), Finchley Memorial Hospital, North London Mile End Hospital, East London UCLH
This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic radiographers to be involved in the World largest Lung Cancer Trial.
We are looking to recruit radiographers with sophisticated communication skills and a patient-centred approach. You will need to have extensive general radiographic experience with an understanding of CT scanning. You are required to hold demonstrable teaching abilities as you will be working with under-graduates & junior staff.
The successful candidates will gain experience in research, audits, and participation in patient focussed non-smoking campaign.
There will be opportunities to attend regular CPD sessions.
The post does not involve OOH working but there will be opportunities to work additional CT weekend lists.Interview Date; TBC
