Job Description

Applications are invited for one full-time (10PAs) Consultant Haematopathologist to be placed in the Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS) at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH).

The successful candidate will join an established multidisciplinary team to support the diagnosis and management of haematological malignancies.

HODS acts as a Regional Referral Centre for the East of England, providing the full range of clinical and laboratory services.

The post holder will have specific responsibilities for the provision and development of specialist diagnostic services within the HODS. The role will require collaboration with regional hospital colleagues. Strong links exist between HODS and multiple Cambridge University research groups working on haematological malignancies, and also with the East Midlands and East of England Genomic Laboratory Hub in the context of developing regional strategies for genomic testing.

Applicants should have experience of Diagnostic Haematopathology, including reporting of bone marrow and lymph node pathology, together with an interactive approach to working with clinical and academic colleagues.

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors' professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013).
