The laboratory provides an extensive range of investigations to support the specialist patient population of this tertiary referral paediatric hospital. This includes a wide range of specialist investigations for both haematology and haemostasis, and support for patients with multiple special requirements in Blood Transfusion.
You will perform the technical and scientific work in either the Haematology and coagulation sections within the Blood Sciences Laboratory and the Blood Transfusion Laboratory. The post holder will participate in the departmental out of hours service after training, including a 24/7 shift pattern.
The department is UKAS accredited and is also an IBMS accredited training laboratory.
The department encourages all staff to further their experience and encourages attendance at both internal and external courses/presentations. The Trust has excellent links with the Institute for Child Health and staff can have access to the library facilities within the Institute.
Applicants are invited from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists or pre-registration student already undertaking registration portfolio (date of assessment confirmed) with experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. Experience as a lone worker is desirable.
