We need a suitably experienced Senior Physiotherapist who has a strong interest in spasticity management and dystonia to join our established botulinum toxin service at the Walton Centre. Injection Therapy Qualifications are not essential for application but are considered a priority of study once in post. The Trust will support work towards these qualifications both financially and through Consultant mentoring.
You will work closely with both the Movement Disorder Neurologists and the Rehabilitation Consultants within the Trust to continue the management of patients in independent, physiotherapist led, botulinum toxin injection therapy clinics. You will be responsible for co-ordinating the therapeutic management of patient's requiring injection with botulinum toxin within the hospital environment. You will undertake objective assessments, be an integral part of clinical pathways, provide high quality treatments and ensure appropriate carry over through patient and carer education. Given the large geographical area that we cover it may be necessary for you to co-ordinate follow-up therapeutic input with teams based locally to the patient.
A high level of knowledge in the management of patients with neurological conditions, experience of liaison across various health care teams and experience of working autonomously are essential.
You will have excellent organisational skills, be an effective team player and have a flexible approach to service development / delivery. You will have an interest in audit and research with a commitment to CPD. Your clinical and professional development will be supported by the Principal Physiotherapist through regular appraisals and training.
