Social Worker, National Forensics Mental Health Service, Dublin
This is an excellent opportunity and will commence immediately.
The social worker will be part of a multi disciplinary-team led by a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, and including Community mental Health nurses, Occupational Therapists and psychologists.
Social work is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary structure and provides psycho-social assessments of the needs of residents and their families, as well as designing and delivering therapeutic programmes across a range of identified needs aimed at address the psycho-social needs of the service-users and their families.
The NFMHS also provides in-reach clinics at Cloverhill, Mountjoy, Dochas Centre, Wheatfield, the Midlands, Portlaoise Arbour Hill and Castlerea Prisons and by arrangement with Limerick and Cork prisons. In some of these settings social workers provide a ‘wrap-a-round’ service aimed at ensuring continuity of care by following the person from the prison back in to the community and ensuring appropriate supports are in place.
The NFMHS also provides in-reach services to Oberstown Detention Centre. This newly developed specialised Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team assesses treats and assists in the management of young people in detention or in inpatient settings throughout the country.
Essential requirements for a senior are:
- A recognised qualification as a Social Worker
- Registration with CORU
- Experience of working with adults in a mental health setting is desirable
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
