University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre opened in April 2012 and provides a unique environment for specialist cancer care. Around 500 patients visit the Centre on a daily basis and we strive to deliver a world class service to every one of our visitors.
The Reception Coordinator is a front of house role for Supportive Care and Apheresis, a busy department which sees around 120 patients a day. The successful candidate must be able to maintain a clam and friendly manner, welcoming patient to the floor, at the same time as maintaining a number of administrative processes.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, a high degree of empathy, diplomacy and integrity is essential, as the role is reception based, so you will constantly be dealing with patient enquiries. You will be required to demonstrate sensitivity, an awareness of patients’ needs and a commitment to improving the patient experience.
The reception coordinator is also responsible for a number of administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the services, including booking appointments and responding to queries via email, over the phone and face to face. Good organisation skills and administrative experience are essential. You will be required to be proficient in using Microsoft Office and have experience of using a Patient Administration System (PAS) or similar IT system.
