Staff Grade Psychologist

Enable Ireland is a non-profit organisation that provides vital therapy and support services to children and adults with disabilities and their families. Through the national Progressing Disabilities Services (PDS) model, their Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) deliver family-centred services that empower children and young people with complex needs to achieve their full potential. 

Role Overview 

As a Staff Grade Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing a range of high-quality psychology services to children and young people (0–18 years) and their families. Working within a dynamic interdisciplinary framework, you will deliver assessments and interventions through a family-centred approach. Your work will take place across various settings, including clinics, schools, homes, and the wider community, ensuring that support is accessible and effective. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan and manage a caseload, providing assessments and interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. 
  • Contribute to the overall service planning and development process. 
  • Maintain high-quality records and documentation in line with professional and legislative standards. 
  • Work collaboratively with service users and their families to set and achieve meaningful goals. 
  • Engage in clinical supervision, mentorship of students, and continuous professional development. 
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical practice in accordance with CORU, PSI/BPS, and organisational guidelines. 
  • Act as a mandated person under the Children First National Guidelines. 

 

Qualifications and Experience 

Essential Criteria: 

  • Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject 

AND 

  • Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology 

OR 

  • An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. 

AND 

  • Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for. 

AND 

  • Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the area/ areas for which they wish to apply - Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist.  

OR 

  • Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Child Disability, Child Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist.  

Note: Combinations of supervised clinical placement experience as part of the qualification and post qualification supervised work experience within a single care group area to give a total of 60 days are not acceptable. 

  • Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) 
  • Eligible to work in the state 
  • Valid driving licence for within the state / jurisdiction with access to own transport in order to deliver services across a large geographical area 

 

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Experience of working with children and/or adolescents and their families with one or more of a range of disabilities 
  • Knowledge and skills in the management of behaviours of concern.
