Job Title: Recreation Therapist

Cpl Healthcare in partnership with our client based in North Roscommon is currently recruiting a Recreation Therapist for a full-time position working in a busy Nursing Home.

Our client is a We are a warm, person-centred nursing home located in the heart of Roscommon, dedicated to providing high-quality care and enriching the lives of our residents. We believe that meaningful recreation is essential to wellbeing, and we’re looking for a passionate Recreation Therapist to join our team.

Role Overview

As a Recreation Therapist, you will design and deliver engaging therapeutic activities tailored to the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of our residents. You’ll work closely with nursing and care staff to ensure each resident has opportunities to participate in programs that enhance their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement individual and group recreational therapy sessions.
  • Use activities such as music, art, games, movement, and sensory stimulation to support residents’ wellbeing.
  • Assess residents’ needs and document progress.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate recreation into care plans.
  • Organise seasonal events, outings, and celebrations.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field.
  • Experience working with older adults or in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creativity, empathy, and a genuine passion for improving lives.
  • Garda vetting required.
