Job Description
Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist - ADHD & Clinical R&D Lead
Location: Cork, Ireland
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Service
Our client is an award-winning Cork-based mental health service dedicated to the assessment, diagnosis, and aftercare of ADHD in children and adolescents. The service has earned a strong reputation for clinical excellence while also pushing boundaries through innovation and technology.
Why this role stands out
Most psychiatrists know the challenge: overloaded services, long waiting lists, and rigid systems where change happens slowly, if at all.
This role offers something different. As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will help build a service designed to work outside the limits of the traditional model, one that reduces assessment timelines, lightens the cognitive load on clinicians, and gives families faster access to the care they need.
With protected time for research and development, you will be part of a pioneering team shaping solutions that the "well-oiled machines" of today cannot deliver. This is an opportunity to set a new standard for ADHD care in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialist ADHD services for children and adolescents.
Act as Clinical Lead for the two year R&D project, ensuring clinical oversight, ethical integrity, and the translation of psychiatric expertise into practice.
Collaboration and solutions focused mindset across all teams.
Support the development of innovative tools that improve efficiency, reduce delays, and enhance family experiences.
What we are looking for
Specialist Training: A qualified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with IMC Specialist Registration (or eligibility underway).
Relocation to Ireland: Willing to base yourself in Cork, with relocation support available.
Passion for ADHD: A genuine commitment to advancing ADHD care and improving patient outcomes.
Innovation Mindset: Interest in the role of technology to transform assessment and treatment pathways.
Collaborative Leader: Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary and research-focused team.
What's on Offer
Competitive base salary plus performance-linked bonus and additional benefits.
A balanced role split approximately 50/50 between direct clinical practice and R&D activity.
The chance to shape a service at the intersection of clinical care and innovation.
The support of a dedicated clinical and research team invested in your success.
Why join?
This is not just another consultant post. It is a chance to step outside the status quo and apply your expertise to both patient care and system change.
By leading this project, you will help to design tools and processes that make ADHD assessment faster, lighter, and more sustainable - freeing clinicians to spend more time where it matters most: supporting young people and their families.
If you are ready to combine clinical leadership with genuine innovation, this is an opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the future of ADHD care in Ireland.
