Clinical Nurse Manager 1 - Angiography
Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager 1
Department: Angiography

ROLE PURPOSE
Your primary function is to assist the CNM2 in the management of the Angiography to ensure an efficient serve to maximise activity.
You must practice within the Codes of Practice, Rules and Guidelines set out by NMBI and comply with the policies and procedures of the hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS
Registered in the general division of NMBI
Evidence of personal professional development.
5 years post registration of which at least 2 are in an Angiography Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Management
Taking a lead in the patient flow within the Angiography Department ensuing start times are adhered to and turn around between procedures is minimised
Optimising performance of available laboratory capacity by focusing on operational processes to optimise lab coordination, improved turnaround and timely starts.
Assist the CNM2 in the management of the department
Giving direct patient care and serving as a role model for excellence in practice. Setting standards of nursing practice and communicating these standards to the nursing personnel..
Promote and collaborate in developing good working relationships with departments to ensure the patients’ journey is effective and efficient.
Be aware of the cost implications associated with the service and ensure effective use of all resources including staff, medical and surgical sundries.
2. Professional
Providing a high level of professional and clinical leadership:
Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based approach to ensure clinical effectiveness and efficiency.
Monitor the quality of service delivery and provide professional advice and guidance.
Ensure all documentation is complete and appropriate information is given to patients.
Evaluate and develop, lead and manage the implementation of best practice policy and procedures.
Act as a support to the CNM and deputise when necessary to ensure continuity of the delivery of the high standard of care.
Monitor complaints and work with quality and risk manager.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction.
3. Management of Nursing Personnel
Leadership and direction to nursing personnel:
Allocating nursing and support staff in an appropriate manner to meet the workload and ensuring continuity of care whilst operating within allocated resources.
Participating in the recruitment and selection of personnel, appropriate to the needs of the department.
Ensuring that personnel management is in line with hospital policies in the human resources manual.
Promote and nurture a high level of staff morale, there by promoting team spirit and job satisfaction among nursing staff and other staff in the unit
Provide support and supportive supervision to front line staff where appropriate.
4. Educational Responsibilities
Provide for the professional growth and development of nursing staff by:
The assessment and identification of training and development needs for nursing staff within the unit by setting objectives for learning and contribution to the development of training programmes where appropriate.
Contribute to the clinical development of staff, supporting the teaching of practical skills of agreed competency levels for staff as identified in the Department in conjunction with the CNM2 contribute to the delivery of the orientation of new staff.
Ensure adherence to Infection control practices and all policies related to Infection prevention and control
Assume responsibility for identifying own educational needs and upgrade deficient areas through independent study, seminar attendance or requesting staff development programmes.
Evaluate own nursing practice and instruction of others and the effect these have on the quality of patient care.
5. Management of the Unit
Maintain an environment that encourages quality patient care and staff satisfaction by:
Exercising leadership by personal example.
Delegating professional duties to staff recognising the professional competency of individuals.
Supporting and interpreting clinical policies and procedures.
Ensuring all relevant information is passed to staff within the unit.
Providing a safe, clean, comfortable and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Set annual goals and objectives with CNM2.
