Job Description

Clinical Nurse Manager 1 - Theatre

Including:

Main Theatre

Ophthalmology

Day Procedure Unit

Full-time (37.5 hours per week) | Permanent |

Candidate Criteria:

Qualifications

• Registered nurse/midwife on the active Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland

• Confirm annual registration with NMBI

• Postgraduate course or relevant educational course (Desirable)

• Management Qualification (Desirable)

Experience

• Must have 3 years post registration experience in an acute hospital setting, in the last 5 years.

• With at least one of those years being within the specialty or related area.

• Have the clinical, managerial, and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

• Experience with an Electronic Health Record (Desirable)

• Preceptorship experience (Desirable)

The Purpose of This Role:

As a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) - Theatre, you will play a vital role in leading and delivering exceptional patient care within the surgical environment. Your expertise will ensure that every patient receives safe, efficient, and high-quality care during surgical procedures. You will also be instrumental in supporting and developing the nursing team to maintain the highest professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation, and review of care for patients according to BSHS standards in conjunction with the CNMII.

• Provide clinical and professional leadership to the nursing team in the theatre.

• Ensure the highest standards of patient care are delivered safely and effectively.

• Oversee the operational and clinical activities within the theatre, ensuring smooth workflows.

• Support and mentor nursing staff through in-service training and professional development.

• Coordinate the orientation of new staff and provide guidance to student nurses.

• Maintain compliance with safety protocols, policies, and best practices in surgical care.

• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and experience.
