Job Description
Registered General Nurse - Endoscopy Procedure Rooms
Full-time (37.5 hours per week) | Permanent |
Candidate Criteria:
Qualifications
• Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI]
Experience
• A minimum of one year post-registration experience in acute care nursing.
• Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
• Previous nursing experience working in Endoscopy/Flexible Cystoscopy procedures. (Desirable)
• Experience with an Electronic Health Record (Desirable)
The Purpose of This Role:
The Registered General Nurse in the Endoscopy Procedure Rooms will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care during endoscopic and flexible cystoscopy procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. They will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, including nurse managers and anaesthetists, to ensure smooth operation of the department and a seamless patient experience. The Registered General Nurse will monitor patient outcomes and implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient care within the procedural endoscopy unit.
Key Responsibilities:
Be responsible for delivering safe and high quality care to patients throughout endoscopic and flexible cystoscopy procedures.
Undertake clinical assessment and management of patients within the agreed pathway where appropriate.
Highlight and discuss any concerns with the Consultant/Anaesthetist/Senior Nursing management as appropriate.
Ensure comprehensive documentation of the patient's information before and after the procedure.
Promote patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health agencies.
Ensure full completion of patient documentation pre and post procedure, and before the patient is transferred into PACU.
Demonstrating safe and effective infection control practices
Liaise with CNMs/Consultants regarding any clinical complications/concerns
Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and experience.
To be accountable for his/her own clinical practice, maintaining and improving professional knowledge, competence and scope of professional practice, in accordance with NMBI.
Maintain awareness of national, professional and local quality issues relevant to the delivery of nursing services, for example, JCI & HIQA.
