Approved Social Worker, Community Service, Guernsey

Full Time

Grade: - A4C Band 7 - £55,579 - £66,124 BAR £68,368 - £73,085 per annum 

 Closing Date: 14 August 2025

The States of Guernsey are looking for an Approved Social Worker to join the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team.

This position is based within the Older Adult community Mental Health team. The post calls for an experienced Approved Social Worker (ASW) who is expected to model, understand, maintain and apply a strengths-based approach to clinical practice, for example by promoting independence and personalisation to ensure service users can assess and manage their own needs, risks and uncertainties to meet their identified short- and long-term goals.

The ASW will use a multi professional approach and will be responsible for the identification of potential enablement or reablement opportunities. The ASW will also demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and the ability to apply the requirements of the Bailiwick of Guernsey mental health law 2010 and the Guernsey Capacity Law 2024 leading on complex assessments in relation to these legal frameworks.

Requirements:

·        Approved Social Worker Qualification

·        Substantial post qualifying experience working as an ASW or as an equivalent AMHP under the mental health act

·        Registered as a social worker with Social Work England

·        Diploma in Social Work or Degree in Social Work

·        Satisfactorily completed the assessed and supported year in employment (ASYE) or preceptorship

·        Substantial post qualifying experience within a community mental health team

·        Evidence of Continual Professional Development
